the wedding and catching up

hi again

i took a few days off to go to new york for my first friend's wedding. that is to say, she is the first of my friends to multiply and wed. it was pretty awesome to meet the larva. a baby can bring so much love into a family. its nuts.

northerners are sta-range.   oh... sorry chad.... yanks.
i dont get it.
which brings me to the inescapable conclusion...

i'm a southerner.

i dont feel like a southerner...
but i am delighted when a gas station has cajun boiled peanuts.

(chad's a real southerner... sanks as we call them)  and by we, i mean the people that belong nowhere and have no accent.

i suppose south/central florida is culturaless enough for the likes of me...
not culture-less...
 anti-culture.
the culture that is the lack, and not because of lack of input. but the canceling out of so much input that the overall effect is homogeneity... punctuated by latinos... and i guess thats where i fit.
in a taqueria in a strip mall
in a strip of strip malls
off an exit of a highway that runs from Daytona Speedway to Ybor City.

We played our second radio show today.
WDVX, the blue plate special.
it was awesome!!
nice to be welcomed to Knoxville... out new home. we made some friends

As you may or may not know we played our first radio show in Tallahassee on the 13th... the day before the streak of disasters. here are some pictures from that radio show, since i did put them up before:

the studio is on the campus.

it is a maze of 4 hallways, (not much of a maze in hindsight, but the amount of posters and artwork and defacing artwork on posters is overwhelming)

i found my 2 favorites of course

this is a hand written discography... with color coded singles, splits, eps, tapes, and lps.

this studio is awesome!

this sound guy is awesome!!

this guy named Manly that hosted the show... also awesome

Shakira's cat...

awesome

i guess chad is pretty cool too

Perry Georgia... illustrated

I would like someone in the hotel business to define the terms:

"Continental"
"Deluxe"
and most importantly ...
"Hot"

in reference to breakfast, help me out websters:

Continental:   (1) being a cuisine derived from the classic dishes of Europe and especially France...
translation:  this may include french toast... or a waffle

(2)  of or relating to the colonies later forming the United States
translation:  cold grains

Deluxe:  notably luxurious, elegant, or expensive
tranlation:  no translation, there was nothing "deluxe" about our breakfast, unless making your own waffle is deluxe, watered down apple juice, raisin bran, folders coffee, we drove 20 miles to get to a starbucks, god we are spoiled rich-ass city folk.  here's a before and after picture of coffee

The room was cheap-ish. The breakfast, totally disappointment, nothing continental or deluxe or even really hot about it, but it was free. Just be aware that hotels that advertise a morning meal with these adjectives are just trying to get you out of bed between 6:30 and 9:30. If they really wanted us to get out of bed and check out they would have provided some decent coffee.. you know bean water you can't see the bottom of the styrofoam cup through. geeze

thank, i feel much better. you dont have to tell me I'm bratty and bougie, i know. but really, we all are.
Here are some pictures of Perry Georgia. Displayed in an artistic fashion. That is to say, these pictures are terrible. But they convey what they're supposed to.

yeeeaaaaa.

What is your obsession with SUBWAY!!?

this was the coolest thing in town

the founders of the New Perry Hotel

Anyways, here's some pictures from yesterday, note the neck on the tow truck driver.

Perry Georgia

my dinner is soaking in a styrofoam cup of mildly hot water

i am slightly sunburned

we left tallahassee at noon, it is now 10 in the evening. we have traveled at total of 166 miles

and believe me, we used every minute trying to get to Athens, which is still a hundred miles up the road

left my phone in tallahassee, so when the jeep overheated in the south georgia, in a town called Moultrie... we had some issues

we wanted to get to athens so badly

we were determined. we struggled with antifreeze and the radiator for hours. made it a couple more miles, car overheated, let it cool, opened the expansion tank. watched it bubble.

at one point we were sitting in a high school parking lot just baking in the sun. luckily, all the ice had melted in the cooler... but just. "care for another cold one chad?"
it was a fun spot in the day
when the kids got out of summer school i wonder what they made of two strangers with sopping wet t-shirts on their heads in their parking lot.

we made it to a gas station. and used a... get this... a PAY PHONE to call triple A. Did you know its a dollar to make a call these days? i remember when it was 35 cents. But with cell phones i guess the pay phone company had to hike the price just to pay for overhead... whatever that is for payphones.

the tow truck took us 100 miles... (so you see, we really only got 66 miles from Tallahassee in 6 hours)

got a hotel in Perry Georgia

can't call the club

can't call the girl who worked so hard to set up the show

but at least my noodles are now soggy

Orlando Orlando Orlando

OooOOooooOoooOoOLANDOoooOOoooooo

we have been here for 3 days, which is more days than i suppose anyone in our occupation should stay somewhere unless something MEDICAL is going on....   its not. tensions are high, gas is...  relative to tensions, time to go. But we did have a good time here, I always love seeing my brother and some friends from the old neighborhood.

Tommy! my scarecrow... (who i miss most of all)

We infiltrated the spings neighborhood, the gated community with it's own private natural spring, the most ideal place of swimming.. but we weren't the only one's with this brilliantly refreshing plan on a 98degree saturday.

See, the only way to get into the springs is to have someone on the inside to call you in... and only the craziest most fucked up kids live in the springs.. not our friend of course...

anyways, once you are 'in', you just... blend in, with all the crazy spring people. You need a key card to get into the bathrooms and sauna, even on the inside there is security to keep the non-springy's out. So you have to follow someone into the showers... yea, i know. weird. But i had to get all that algae off... it was a little much even for me. All up in my grill, no good. I managed to get the greenies off... i also managed to leave my shoes in the shower room...  well preserved and protected behind the locked doors... shit... these are literally the only shoes i have with me. i needed them back... but who would lend me a keycard?

we set off in all directions, asking practically everybody for help, in the least creepy way possible. But... nobody had a keycard (that they would lend)... actually almost none of the people at the springs that day were residents of the springs. we were all impostors. Luckily, one girl I went to high school with lent me the card... phewph! thank Andora

Here is an artist rendering of Andora

A good time was had by all... especially ralphy... that made out with a bunch of carrots and chips from our picky-nick.

Tampa Meridian Hookah Lounge

this is the meridian hookah lounge. sweet peach smell permeates the entire place. we have been playing here every trip to florida since November, they always take care of us.
i alway deny a hookah, seeing as though i have to sing and so forth...

but i always eventually have to sample someone's.
and then i want my own.
its a pretty suave place

but by now the lack of oxygen to my brain has made it completely impossible to do or say things, much less type things coherently.

this is Henry

Emily and Chris' Dog in Gainesville, Chad doesn't really like dogs so much as he loves cats, but Henry's different, obviously. How did he put it.... "transcends being a dog." Gainesville is a welcome oasis of comfort inside Emily's home. Outside of her home is nothing but college, so much just.... stuff generated around UF. We alway try to play at Satchel's Pizza, the venue is the back room to the restaurant, its a Junk Museum! Collections of collections presented as very visually pleasing installation pieces. Its an excellent place to have a beer... or a half liter of imported coke (real sugar instead of corn syrup)
and just zone out looking at all the color and things. Plus, there is free music on Thursdays, we get to be so luck this thursday to be that music. Our set is getting better everyday.

This is what our T-shirts look like, we're going to need to print more when we get back to Knoxville in different sizes and styles, even though the sleek slim sexy v-neck looks amazing on Chelsea Jo,...  in doesn't fit most people, (physically and stylistically). A lesson in Marketing.

We are off in a few minutes. Tonight we play in Tampa but on the way we really want to swim somewhere, a spring of some sort.

we miss you

1 2 3 go

Day 1: Chad turns into a Zombie

We had big plans... big big plans.
  1. Get up early!     (never... EVER happens with us... so why i thought today would be different...
  2. Coffee  ....   success!
  3. Deal with every piece of crap we've accumulated in the last 5 + years in Pensacola
  4. Visit Ponce de Leon Springs  (raining... hard)
  5. Tallahassee!

So...   we are currently on step 3... or about to be on step 3. Since the rain is canceling our cookout halfway on the trip we have a few more hours, but we were supposed to leave... um, now!   Thanks to everybody who came to the last Show on July 1st, took our crap way the 19th and 20th, came to toast us farewell at the Dick last night.  We hope to update as the days go by, you can check out Chad's blog too!

I love you! I'll miss you! I go now!!!!
